Links

These are links to web sites I've come across that I thought had at least some things of value. They are provided for your convenience in doing research. I do not necessarily believe nor endorse everything that may be found on these web sites. So please use discretion when viewing any web site (including this one) and always be like the Bereans!

General Links

  • A Book Store - If you are new to "Hebrew Roots" and don't know what books are available or where to start, this site lists a number of titles you might be interested in. (Also see my own book list for ideas.) www.mayimhayim.org

  • AmazingDiscoveries.org - New! 2/12/10

  • Ancient Hebrew Research Center - Teaching the ancient Biblical Hebrew language of the Bible through the study of the ancient Hebrew alphabet, culture and thought. Very interesting and informative web site. www.ancient-hebrew.org

  • Answers to Often-Asked Questions -1 www.hearandobey.com

  • Answers to Often-Asked Questions -2 www.hearandobey.com

  • Aramaic English New Testament - A compilation, annotation, and translation of the eastern original Aramaic "New Testament" Peshitta text by Andrew Gabriel Roth. Highly recommended. www.aent.org

  • Bereans Online - There are a number of audio Bible studies that can be download for free to listen to, as well as printed resources. My main objection to this site is that they still use substitutions for the Name of Yahuweh. www.bereansonline.org

  • Beth Immanuel Sabbath Fellowship - Some good online teachings by Daniel Lancaster. www.bethimmanuel.org

  • Biblical Holidays - Explanations of the Biblical feasts and festivals. heartofwisdom.com

  • Blue Sky Sunshine's Blog - Claim to fame: "Truth material" made available for educational purposes, to advance understanding of human rights, democracy, scientific, moral, ethical, and social justice issues. Interesting blog on current events. blueskysunshine.org

  • Clean & Unclean Foods List by Brand - Very helpful site for those new to dietary laws (and who still tend to eat "junk" food). www.theisraelofgodrc.com

  • Cryptome.org - Documents for publication that are prohibited by governments worldwide - New 3/4/10

  • Discover Your Jewish Ancestry Through DNA Testing - Not necessary because we become part of the family through the new birth, not physical descent. Nor is it about being "Jewish" as Judah is only one tribe out of 12! BUT, some people may still want to know out of curiosity, so here is your opportunity! www.familytreedna.com

  • El Shaddai Ministries - These folks (Mark Biltz) have a very intriguing video regarding some lunar events that will occur in 2015.  It's worth a look.. Click here for a link to the page where the DVD is offered for sale along with the Feasts of YHWH. Interesting DVDs. One of the first sites I discovered in my Hebrew roots journey. www.elshaddaiministries.us

  • Eshav Books - Good teaching. (Rabbi Bob Gorlick) Uses circumlocutions for the Name of Yahuweh. Non-Two House. Free downloads/donations requested. www.eshavbooks.org

  • First Fruits of Zion - D. Thomas Lancaster/Boaz Michael. Recent position shift with regard to "One Law," a move which causes me to be less enthusiastic than initially about recommending them. Torah Club has many wonderful articles and I still enjoy it, however, there are some perspectives I have a problem with. Because of this positional shift (which I do not consider to be minor), I opted out of purchasing the latest re-write of Volume 3, which I had previously been looking forward to. But overall, the teaching is good. Just be aware of what comes from tradition and what comes from Torah. For an article example, go here. www.ffoz.org

  • Fossilized Customs - Lew White. My opinion? This web site is a bit of a disaster to look at, with little real organization, but the articles are superb. (The book is the same way--tiny type and not too well organized, but great info. Guess you can't have it all!) My recommendation? Deal with it and read both book and web site. Lots of good info. www.fossilizedcustoms.com

  • God's Learning Channel - Understanding the Hebrew Roots of Our Faith

  • Hebrew for Christians Interested in learning Hebrew? Check out this site. The frosting on the cake for me is they also have some good Jewish humor. www.hebrew4christians.com

  • Hoshanarabbah - This link will take you to a page of many more excellent links, listed by topic. Have fun! - New!

  • Jesus' Words Only - Douglas Del Tondo. I found this book fascinating reading. I believe it is quite likely that Shaul (Paul) was the one the Bereans were constantly checking the Scriptures (Tanakh, or "Old Testament) against to see if he was indeed teaching the truth. Whether he was a true Apostle or a false Apostle is something you will have to decide for ourself. The point is, whether he was a true apostle and greatly misunderstood, or a false apostle after the tradition of Balaam, the bottom line here is that the way Christianity understands his teaching regarding the Torah is completely against the Word of YHWH and those who align their lives by the belief that Torah was done away with need to repent and not teach this heretical doctrine! Otherwise, they may find themselves at the receiving end of the words of YHWH in Matthew 7:23. www.jesuswordsonly.com
  • How NOT To Study the Bible

  • Jewish Used Books - I find this site while looking for a tallit (prayer shawl) and other like items. The prices are the best I've seen anywhere. jewishusedbooks.com

  • *Jews and Joes . . . Because Both Houses Matter! (End Time Prophecy)- Excellent Two-House web site. Highly recommended. jewsandjoes.com

  • Jono Vandor Blog - Audio interviews with Brad Scott and others of interest. (Brad is one of my favorite Torah Teachers. He is an agro-bio-linguist (I hope I said that right!) and he really knows what he is talking about.) col2v8.blogspot.com

  • Judaism 101 - Informational site. Everything you wanted to know about Judaism. Just remember, Judaism is a religion and it is full of traditions. There is nothing wrong with tradition as long as it doesn't override the instructions of Yahuweh and as long as it doesn't become legalistic. www.jewfaq.org

  • Karaite Korner - Nehemia Gordon's web site. (Nehemia brings us the New Moon report each month.) Karaism is the original form of Judaism as prescribed in the Torah. Karaite Judaism rejects later additions to the Tanach (Jewish Bible) such as the Rabbinic Oral Law and places the ultimate responsibility of interpreting the Bible on each individual. Karaism does not reject Biblical interpretation but rather holds every interpretation up to the same objective scrutiny regardless of its source. www.karaites.com

  • Kosher Food Online - If you want to buy kosher food on-line, this is simply one of the resources I found. Here again, keep in mind that there is a difference between Rabinically kosher food and Biblically kosher food. If you don't know the difference, find out! (Then sites like this may not be necessary.) www.kosher.com

  • Lashon Hara - A wonderful website link to learn about lashon hara (evil speaking) - A timely reminder we all can use! torah.org/learning/halashon

  • Laydownlife.net - Articles by Yedidah. If these articles don't inspire your walk with our Father, something is definitely wrong. Good advice for remaining set apart while living in Babylon/Egypt.

  • Lion and Lamb Ministries - Web site of Messianic Rabbi Monte Judah. I don't agree with him on everything, but he has some really good articles. (I don't know of anyone I agree with on "everything.") lionlamb.net

  • *Mashiyach - An all around interesting "Hebrew Roots" website. A good place to learn about the fundamental teachings of the Messianic movement. No Name substitutions here! www.mashiyach.com

  • *Messianic Judaism - New! 2/14/10

  • Messianic Writings - New web site by Dan Gruber (The print is very small and a little hard to read.) Dan has some really great books out. One of my favorites is "Copernicus and the Jews," which would be at the top of my recommended for reading list. www.messianicwritings.com

  • Music from God - Web site of Uri (oo-ree) Harrel, a Hebrew teacher who WILL teach you Hebrew, if you give him the opportunity. He does it by repetition, so you will find that you are learning before you even know what hit you! This web site is also about the concept of translating Hebrew letters into music notes to produce "heavenly music." www.musicfromgod.com

  • *Refiner's Fire - I discovered this site early in my journey. It resonated with me, but I had a hard time with one article--the one regarding the "Trinity," There was still false Christian teaching that needed to be recognized and weeded out, and it doesn't all happen at once. However, the Spirit of Yahuweh will lead us into all truth if we search for it and are willing to act upon what we know, and it wasn't long before I realized that what I had read on Refiner's Fire was indeed the truth. So I DO understand what it's like to be a Christian to be faced with so much truth all at once. But if you are a Christian, please gives these things prayerful consideration. The determination of your eternal resting place may depend on it. www.therefinersfire.org
  • Peshitta - Very interesting discussions on the forum. Andrew Gabriel Roth is one of the regular contributors here. Was the "New Testament" really originally written in Greek? Not likely. For instance, a Hebrew copy of Matthew from about the 1400's has survived. www.peshitta.org

  • Shamar.org - Interesting articles and videos.

  • Shema Yisrael - Books by Todd Bennett. Highly recommended reading. shemayisrael.net

  • The Rise of "Messianic Judaism" - Use of circumlocutions rather than the Name of Yahuweh, nevertheless an interesting article. baruchhashemsynagogue.org

  • The Watchman International - Messianic web site - articles; web shop (source for Dan Gruber's books). www.thewatchman.org

  • The Words of Jesus of Nazareth -Akin to the red letter translation, except that His words are all that are there. Arranged by topic. www.thewords.com

  • Torah Resource -Excellent and informative articles by Tim Hegg. I don't agree with everything he says (what else is new?) but he is fairly sound and balanced. www.torahresource.com

  • Tushiyah Press - Rav David Pollina's web site. Very controversial topic (lunar Sabbaths), but despite all the name-calling and vociferous objections to lunar Sabbaths, it still makes the most sense to me. You may not agree, but if you read Moadai Tishmoru, at least you will know where lunar Sabbat-keepers are coming from and won't be so naive regarding the arguments, pro and con. www.tushiyah.org

  • Tzitzit - Should/May Women Wear Them? - This question is undoubtedly not asked by many, but very early in my journey, I wanted to know! (The answer is a RESOUNDING YES! And if you are one who chooses to obey this commandment, DO NOT LET anyone from Judah discourage you. Some WILL try. This is an example of Judah vexing Ephraim in these last days. Isa. 11:13) So I did a little research and came up with a couple of interesting sites on the topic. This particular one has photos and instructions on how to make your own. www.tzitzitforwomen.com

Bible Translation Links

  • Aramaic/English New Testament - I love this translation. It also has a large section containing articles that are "hot topics" in the Messianic movement today, shedding insight that might take months or years of study to realize through the normal course of events. The Scriptures are not arranged by topic like most books today, so books and articles are sometimes "shortcuts" when it comes to putting all the pieces of the puzzle together. That of course, does not negate doing one's own research and study, but it can give some vital clues as to what to look for.

  • Institute for Scripture Research - "The Scriptures" - A literal translation of the Tanakh/Old Testament based upon the Hebrew Masoretic Text, and the Messianic Writings/New Testament based on the Textus Receptus Greek Text, modifications to these being made as appropriate in the light of other vital sources. It restores the use of the Hebrew form of the Name of the Father, and also that of the Son, as well as Hebraic name-forms of persons and places throughout. Translator: ISR, Publisher: ISR - The site also offers The Scriptures for free as an e-Sword add-in.

Converters

  • Calendar Home - A general calendar converter for Hebrew, Gregorian, Julian, and other calendars. (For Hebrew dates, it appears that this converter uses the Hillel II calendar.)

Calendars

  • Sunrise, Sunset - Gives sunrise and sunset times for locations around the world.
  • Months of the Jewish Year - "Basic Training" regarding the Jewish Calendar. Interesting information, however we are not to use the pagan Babylonian names for the months of the year.
  • Jewish Holidays, 2001-2015 - These are man-calculated dates and are NOT according to the visible sighting of the New Moon (obviously). I only list them here so you can get a general idea of when the dates the feasts will occur. I do NOT recommend you go by this calendar or any other Jewish calendar that is not according to the visible sighting of the New Moon as Scripture tells us to do. The debate has to do with the authority issue. See Eliyahu ben David's article dealing with this topic.
  • The Jewish Calendar - Compares civil and sacred calendars with explanation of times of day in 8 parts. It wrongly believes days are from sunset to sunset.
  • Jewish Calendar Tools - Interactive calendar; date converter; candle lighting times; Jewish holidays, & Torah readings
  • Hebrew Civil Calendar (download) - This is a calendar tool for your computer that has interesting information, but it should not be used to determine when New Moon day occurs. Always go by the visible sighting of the first sliver where you live. The next day will be New Moon day.
  • Sunrise/Sunset times
  • Moon Rise/Set times

Lunar-Sabbaths (The Father's ORIGINAL Calendar)

Moon Phase Software

  • QuickPhase Pro - An easy way to discover the exact moon phase, position, moonrise and moonset times at any moment within hundreds of years. Monthly Moon Phase calendars. Works based upon your location. Easy setup instructions.
  • LunaCal - Click here for screen shots.

Informational Links

  • History & Rules - Explains the history and rules of the Jewish calendar. Very interesting reading for someone trying to understand how the Hebrew calendar works. Lists Jewish holidays. Some of it can be a little mind-boggling, but generally speaking, it is quite interesting. It also gives the history of the Gregorian calendar.

See Multimedia section for videos dealing with some of these topics. Some of these should probably be in the "Area 51" section but since they are related to end times, I'm leaving them here.

Friends

These are links to the web sites of some of the friends I've met along the way.

  • Judaism vs. Christianity - Scott Nelson

  • Community of the Way - A Torah Obedient, Messiah Centered Fellowship (New Mexico). Mikal has some good info on women wearing tzitzit.

  • Need to purchase Tzitziyot? - What I like about these is that they are made with a little clip on the end so that they can easily be moved from one item of clothing to another. The blue thread is commanded, buonly, so any color can be substituted.

  • Shofar of Eliyah

  • Tushiyah Press- Only a few books listed here, but worth the time to read. (I've read through them both several times.) David makes (IMHO) rock solid arguments regarding the Lunar Sabbath in his book "Moadai Tishmoru - Discovering the Sabbath." I recommend it to anyone who wants to know both sides of this very controversial topic. As far as I know, a free e-Book can still be obtained on request. He also has another one, "Reuniting the Covenant" which is also excellent reading.

Heart-Warming Stories

  • My Redeemer Lives - Team Hoyt - A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?' The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.' To which, his father said 'Yes' . For those who didn't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island.  Father and son went on to complete the race together. I have seen this many times and it brings tears to my eyes every time. What an amazing example of the kind of love God wants us to have for our fellow man.

  • Life Without Limbs - Nick Vujicic is 25 years old. He was born without arms or legs and given no medical reason for this condition. Faced with countless challenges and obstacles, God has given him the strength to surmount what others might call impossible. Along with that, the Lord has placed within him an unquenchable passion to share this same hope and genuine love that he has personally experienced with more than two million people all over the globe. What an inspiration!

  • The Animal Odd Couple - I have always loved Elephants, I suppose because they are "plain" and fiercely loyal. I can somehow relate. This is a most heart-warming story that was sent to me by a friend who knows of my love for elephants. Enjoy!!

Survival Preparedness

Stock Up!

I know, as surely as I am sitting here, someone is going to say that if you stock up on food, you're wasting your time and that we're supposed to trust in Yahuweh. If you feel that way, that's fine. Do what you want. However, I might remind folks who are of that mindset that you DO work for a living, don't you? Why don't you trust Yahuweh to provide your daily needs as well while you sit on your slothful behind? Most of us probably go to the doctor at one time or another as well, rather than wait upon Yahweh to heal us. That takes nothing away from Him as He IS the Master Healer, nor does it say He won't provide, but in His Word, He tells us to not be like the sluggard, but rather to consider the industriousness of the ant. Furthermore, Joseph took advantage of the years of plenty to store grain for the years of famine, and as a result, was able to feed an entire nationl. So if you don't want to stock up for yourself, consider doing it for your family or neighbors who have no idea of what is coming in the days, months, years ahead. Oh, and one more thing...if you lose your job in this terrible economy--famine or no famine--that stockpile might become a very welcome sight.

  • *Freeze Dry Guy - This one is at the top of my list of recommendations. Please ask for Wayne at Extension 416 (866-404-3663) - You also get FREE SHIPPING!

  • MREdepot (on ebay) - Canned brown bread, canned cereal, MRE water, bulk honey--many items not found on some sites Free shipping. This merchant gives excellent customer service and the product arrived very, very quickly.
Incidentally, you don't have to wait for a disaster to consume these foods. Buying this way is less expensive than buying from the grocery store, and I recommend you get used to the foods, learn how to prepare them, and figure out what your favorites are before you need to live on them exclusively.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem - Isa 62:6,7

"I have set watchmen on your walls, O Yerushalayim, all the day and all the night, continually, who are not silent. You who remember YHWH, give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Yerushalayim a praise in the earth."
